Exhibition Summary: The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) in partnership with the Friends of the Library and Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) presents the annual Ohio Artist Registry Juried exhibition. The exhibition features the work of Ohio artists who are members of the Ohio Artist Registry (OAR). The OAR showcases work by Ohio, national, and international artists. There is no theme to this exhibition.
Eligibility Requirements: Entrants must be living Ohio residents, 18 years and older, who are registered in the Ohio Artist Registry (OAR). It is free to register in the OAR. If you are not an OAR registrant, a registry request must be received by October 13, 2023, to be eligible to apply to the juried exhibition. To register for the OAR please visit www.oac.ohio.gov/Resources/Ohio-Artist-Registry and click ''Register'' in the upper right corner. OAC and CML employees are not eligible to apply.
Exhibition Information: The juried exhibition will be presented in the Carnegie Gallery at the Columbus Metropolitan Library's Main Library from February 7 to March 23, 2024. Three Juror's Choice awards of $500, provided by the Ohio Arts Council, will be selected by a panel of jurors consisting of a professional Ohio artist, a Columbus Metropolitan Library employee, and a member of Friends of the Library. Only work appropriate for display in a public building will be considered. Work submitted cannot have been previously displayed/presented at the Carnegie Gallery.
Application Information and Process:
1. Register with the OAR if you are not already a participant. To register go to:www.oac.ohio.gov/Resources/Ohio-Artist-Registry and click ''register'' in the upper right corner.
2. After you sign up for the registry, go to the ArtCall.org submission page at https://2024oarexhibition.artc...
Artists may submit one application with up to three separate artworks for consideration with a maximum of six images per artist (to allow for alternate views of a work or a detail). Initial parameters include the following:
Selection Review Process: The jury process is anonymous and is based on the work submitted for the exhibition. In an effort to present exhibits of merit and significance, work must be evaluated by objective guidelines. Clearly, however, an artwork need not meet all of the criteria in order to be accepted for exhibition. When judging the quality of the artwork submitted, several standards, and combinations of standards may be used, such as:
Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance the week of November 13, 2023. Notification will be through the ArtCall.org site.
Artwork Drop-Off Date and Time:
Saturday, February 3, 2024, 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Shipped works may arrive the week of January 28, 2024, arriving no later than February 3, 2024.
Exhibition Dates: Wednesday, February 7 – Saturday, March 23, 2024
Closing Reception: Saturday, March 23, 2024, 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Artwork Pickup Date and Time:
Monday, March 25, 2024, 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
*Artist may also pickup artwork at the conclusion of the Closing Reception on March 23.
Accepted artwork should be delivered/picked up at the second-floor information desk at the Main Library, located at 96 S. Grant Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43215. No adjustments can be made to the delivery/pick-up schedule; late submissions will not be accepted. Friends and family members may deliver/pick up artwork if the artist is unavailable. Work must be delivered with appropriate packaging and protection material.
Mailed work should be sent to the following address: Attn: Guiseppe Fricano, Columbus Metropolitan Main Library, 96 S. Grant Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43215. Mailed work must include return shipping costs and return address information.
Liability and Insurance: Every care will be taken for the safety of all works of art. CML, its officers, and agents, will not be responsible for any loss or damage. CML does not insure entries. Works will be handled and exhibited at the artists' risk.
Artwork Sales: Submitted artwork does not have to be available for sale, but you must provide a value for each piece. Friends of the Library will enter each image that is for sale and each price on their website. Visitors interested in purchasing work should contact The Library Store at Main Library. Friends of the Library will receive 30% of any sales from the exhibition.
