Exhibition Summary: The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) in partnership with the Friends of the Library and Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) presents the annual Ohio Artist Registry Juried exhibition. The exhibition features the work of Ohio artists who are members of the Ohio Artist Registry (OAR). The OAR showcases work by Ohio, national, and international artists. There is no theme to this exhibition.

Eligibility Requirements: Entrants must be living Ohio residents, 18 years and older, who are registered in the Ohio Artist Registry (OAR). It is free to register in the OAR. If you are not an OAR registrant, a registry request must be received by October 13, 2023, to be eligible to apply to the juried exhibition. To register for the OAR please visit www.oac.ohio.gov/Resources/Ohio-Artist-Registry and click ''Register'' in the upper right corner. OAC and CML employees are not eligible to apply.

Exhibition Information:  The juried exhibition will be presented in the Carnegie Gallery at the Columbus Metropolitan Library's Main Library from February 7 to March 23, 2024. Three Juror's Choice awards of $500, provided by the Ohio Arts Council, will be selected by a panel of jurors consisting of a professional Ohio artist, a Columbus Metropolitan Library employee, and a member of Friends of the Library. Only work appropriate for display in a public building will be considered. Work submitted cannot have been previously displayed/presented at the Carnegie Gallery.

Application Information and Process:

1. Register with the OAR if you are not already a participant. To register go to:www.oac.ohio.gov/Resources/Ohio-Artist-Registry and click ''register'' in the upper right corner.

2.  After you sign up for the registry, go to the ArtCall.org submission page at https://2024oarexhibition.artc...

Artists may submit one application with up to three separate artworks for consideration with a maximum of six images per artist (to allow for alternate views of a work or a detail). Initial parameters include the following:

  • Work must be original and executed within the past three years.
  • Artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.
  • Two-dimensional and three-dimensional works are accepted and may not exceed 6' by 6'.
  • Two-dimensional work must be wired and ready to hang and may not exceed 35 pounds each.
  • Work must be dry.
  • Because of the historic nature of the Carnegie Library suspended work will not be accepted.

Selection Review Process: The jury process is anonymous and is based on the work submitted for the exhibition. In an effort to present exhibits of merit and significance, work must be evaluated by objective guidelines. Clearly, however, an artwork need not meet all of the criteria in order to be accepted for exhibition. When judging the quality of the artwork submitted, several standards, and combinations of standards may be used, such as:

  • Suitability of subject, technique, and style for the intended audience
  • Vitality and originality
  • Artistic expression and experimentation
  • Creative and inventive use of the medium
  • Innovation in style and/or concept
  • Technical proficiency in the use of the medium/media

Artists will be notified of acceptance or non-acceptance the week of November 13, 2023. Notification will be through the ArtCall.org site.
